Setting Up Your Search Profile (TenderDNA)
Last updated: 16 February 2026
A well-configured search profile — also known as TenderDNA — is the key to relevant tenders. TenderWolf uses your profile to automatically match public tenders with your business.
Why Your Search Profile Matters
Without a profile, you see all announcements — thousands per week, of which only a handful are relevant. With a well-configured profile:
- You only see tenders that truly match your expertise
- AI-powered matching works significantly better
- You save hours of search time each week
- You’ll never miss an opportunity in your market
The 6 Dimensions of a Search Profile
A search profile in TenderWolf consists of 6 dimensions. All dimensions work together via logical AND — meaning a tender must meet ALL configured criteria to appear in your results.
1. Keywords (Search Terms)
Add keywords that characterize your type of tenders:
- One or more keywords per line
- Fuzzy search: “school” also finds “schools”, “school furniture”, etc.
- Choose where to search: title, brief description, full tender text, or specifications
- Use for technical standards or specific technologies
Example: For a company specializing in solar panels, you could add keywords like “solar panels”, “PV systems”, “renewable energy”.
2. CPV Codes (European Classification)
CPV codes are the European standard for classifying products and services:
- Hierarchical structure: From broad to specific categories
- Inclusive/Exclusive: Choose whether you also want to include underlying codes
- Essential for precise matching
Example: For ICT services, you could add codes like 72000000 (IT services) and 72212000 (Programming).
3. NUTS Codes (Geographic)
NUTS codes determine where the contract must be executed:
- Geographic filtering: From European countries to regional levels
- Inclusive/Exclusive: You can select broad regions or specific cities
- Ideal if you only operate in certain regions
Example: A construction company in Flanders could select the NUTS codes for East Flanders and West Flanders.
4. Certifications (Construction)
For construction companies only:
- Category: Type of works (plumbing, demolition, road construction, finishing work, etc.)
- Class: Size of the work (no class through class 8)
- Relevant if you hold specific category certifications
5. Form Types
Determine which types of procurement procedures you want to see:
- Open procedures
- Restricted procedures
- Negotiated procedures
- Framework agreements
- For example: companies that only want awarded contracts can filter here
6. Authorities
Follow specific contracting entities or organizations:
- Select specific municipalities, provinces, ministries, or other public institutions
- Useful if you already have good relationships with certain contracting authorities
Logical AND: Everything Must Match
This is crucial: all configured dimensions are combined via logical AND. A tender appears in your results only if:
- The keywords appear in it AND
- The CPV codes match AND
- The location (NUTS codes) is correct AND
- (If applicable) the certifications are relevant AND
- The form type matches AND
- The contracting authority is in your selection
This means your profile can be very precise, but also restrictive. TenderWolf shows you through graphs exactly what each search profile yields, so you can refine it.
